Choosing the right CBEST test date is extremely important. Many teacher preparation programs require that you pass the CBEST before being admitted or before advancing in the program. The CBEST is also typically required for individuals applying for a first teaching credential or services credential, including those planning to substitute teach. Not passing the CBEST in time can delay your educational and career goals.

Make sure you also allow time to retake the test if you do not achieve a passing score on your first attempt. You may retake the exam as many times as needed to achieve a passing score, but keep in mind that the testing service rules require that you must wait 45 calendar days from the date you took the test to retake a test or subtest on computer.
